U.S. ARMY 410TH SUPPORT BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The U.S. Army Center of Military History has no information on the origin, lineage, or history of the 410th Support Battalion, and The Institute of Heraldry has no entry describing the symbolism or allusions used in the 410th Support Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, although it does confirm that the phrase “One Team” inscribed in gold on the black scroll was the Battalion motto.

According to the military-focused Global Security Web Site, the unit served in Germany as the 410th Base Support Battalion. It was stationed in the town of Bad Kreuznach and had the same mission as other Base Support Battalions stationed in Germany: provide operations, services, facilities, and even recreation options for U.S. Soldiers, their families, and civilian Defense personnel that would be on par with what they might find back in the United States.

The start of the 21st century saw the U.S. Army reorganizing the structure of its overseas facilities and support cadre, and as a result the Battalion was inactivated by the end of 200
